30 km from the cottage A UNESCO site, a castle above a bend of the Vltava, lanes you cannot walk in a single day.
15 km from the cottage Samson's Fountain, the Black Tower and one of the largest squares in Central Europe. And Budvar, of course.
20 km from the cottage A UNESCO village of folk baroque — 23 farmsteads around a green with a small pond.
4 km from the cottage Plástovice, Zbudov, Pištín — folk baroque villages with painted gables, just around the corner.
3 km from the cottage "Kubata gave his head for the marshes." A 1904 monument to the peasant reeve, on the green trail from Zliv.
7 km from the cottage Hluboká – Purkarec along the river, the Baba rock spur and the Karlův hrádek ruin. A loop of about 24 km, or a boat trip.
9 km from the cottage A baroque hunting château with collections on forestry, hunting and fishing. Right next to the zoo.
4 km from the cottage A nature monument — centuries-old tree avenues on the pond dams, home to the great capricorn and stag beetles.
5 km from the cottage Set in a spruce forest with a paved track of almost 3 km around it. For mushrooms or a walk.
04Mydlovarský rybník · Mydlák
In front of the cottage it is rather shallow — ideal for children and for the first dip of the morning. Mute swans, mallards, greylag geese, coots, great crested grebes and night herons nest here. With a little luck you will spot a spoonbill or a kingfisher.

Tip from the shore: Pre-bait one spot two days ahead – carp get used to a regular table.
Ctenopharyngodon idella
Tip from the shore: They pull hard on the take – keep the clutch loose and the net ready.
Hypophthalmichthys molitrix
Tip from the shore: A plankton feeder that ignores classic baits – a speciality rather than a routine catch.
Silurus glanis
Tip from the shore: Night fishing: strong tackle, a stiff rod and a lot of patience.
Esox lucius
Tip from the shore: A wire trace is a must – pike teeth cut through any line.
Sander lucioperca
Tip from the shore: Takes are subtle – watch the rod tip lift and strike right away.
Perca fluviatilis
Tip from the shore: They hunt in shoals – where you catch one, there are usually more.
Nesting here
Bring binoculars – the nesting sites are in the reeds on the far shore.
A deep, clear pond among the woods. Shallow by the cottage, deep further out. Carp, grass carp and silver carp; among predators catfish, pike, zander and perch.
Popular for trophy catches and heavy stocking — the permit price reflects it. Among the anglers you will mostly meet neighbours from Austria.
Once part of Bezdrev, the second largest pond in the country. Easy to reach by car, a cheap permit and quite decent catches.
